Saskia lives in Villieria, a suburb of Pretoria, in a home built many years ago, with a kitchen that could be dated to the 80's by handle and tile alone. Those yellow D handles were very popular when I was doing my apprenticeship in the late 80's. I installed, Red ones, yellow ones, blue ones and even black ones. The tile was almost as popular as the one that looked like someone had hurled bile onto a tile. The diagonal stripes was used in many a kitchen and bathroom and the really daring matched the grout with the colour on the tile.
Anyway Saskia called me in because she wanted to put in a dishwasher, and the project quickly grew to a reface of the other units. The budget for this Kitchen was by no means high, but we worked around the budget, reusing much of the original cabinetry and gave Saskia the Walk in Pantry that made her eyes light up when we first discussed it.
I had seen the sink unit with drawers on Pinterest and convinced Saskia to let me build them. The water filter meant only two drawers instead of three, but they work great. No more cleaning materials hidden behind the trap, Pull out the drawer and they are easy to grab, no matter the task ahead.
I also plumbed in the new sink and dishwasher connection, repaired the Water filter and made sure the plumbing was connected.
